The South African International Mathematics Contest (SAIMC) will take place in Durban in August 2019. After five elimination rounds, which started in 2018, Feng-Mei Chuang (Gr9, Eunice High School) was selected as a member of Team B. She will represent the Free State and Northern Cape in this prestigious competition.
Earlier this year, Feng-Mei was one of 12 prize winners of the Nelson Mandela University’s, Govan Mbeki Mathematics Development Centre’s (GMMDC) national Mathematics Art Competition. Feng-Mei entered ‘The Mathematics in Nature’ category. Her work was chosen from 600 entries from 75 schools all over South Africa.
The winning entries were exhibited at the BRIDGES Conference in Linz, Austria from 16 – 20 July.
